To gain and maintain competitive advantage, it is important to ensure that employees stay up to date with new methods and techniques. Where this is not the case, organizations risk missing out on the competition, certainly longer term. Managers play a crucial role here, but are they focused on ensuring that their team members are up to date with the developments in their professional area?
Research shows that managers and Human Resources offer little inspiration for the further development of employees. In a recent survey of 1,100 respondents, only 12% say they are inspired by them to keep learning. For the vast majority, the partner or a direct colleague play a more important role.
Managers are often insufficiently aware of their role in the further development of employees. In our ‘GROW the InPersona way’ program we consider how transformational managers can play an important role in supporting the development of their team members, and how they can inspire them to think for themselves about possible solutions.
In our programmes, we use Hogan personality assessment data to help managers move forward by giving them more insight into their personality, their motives, values and preferences. We also support the development of transformational people skills and the application in the daily practice. This allows us to help them become better managers, to the benefit of the organization and their team members.
